Update Published on April 13, 2021

Effective immediately, the CDC and FDA have placed a pause on all administration of the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine until further notice. They will be reviewing recent reports of blood clots (IE, brain cavernous sinus thrombosis associated with low platelets) in six individuals 6 to 13 days after receiving the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Right now, these adverse events appear to be extremely rare and are being further evaluated to ensure vaccine safety. People who have received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine who develop a severe headache, chest pain, abdominal pain, leg pain, or shortness of breath within three weeks after vaccination should seek immediate care. If you do NOT have the above symptoms, then nothing needs to be done.

The state of Texas has a plan to help patients get their vaccines soon! Large vaccine hubs have been developed to make vaccinations more accessible to the communities that need them, while also serving larger groups of people quickly. Hub locations will continue to be added each week as the vaccine supply increases. If eligible, we encourage you to register through a local hub as it will be the fastest way to obtain your COVID-19 vaccine.

To sign up for a location near you, please visit https://bit.ly/vaccinehubs for a complete list of COVID-19 vaccine hub providers.

There are limited vaccines available, and we want you to be protected as early as possible. We support these vaccine hubs and hope you can take advantage of these opportunities! If you do receive your vaccine outside of Village Health Partners, please keep your immunization card and we will collect this information from you at your next visit.

We are passionate about making a difference in the lives of our community, and we hope you will do your part too! Our employees have already started to receive their COVID-19 mRNA vaccinations. We encourage you to do the same by taking advantage of the opportunities offered through the COVID-19 vaccine hubs locally across DFW. In order to win the battle against COVID-19, we must reach herd immunity to protect ourselves and most importantly, each other.

Update Published on January 11, 2021

Please do not be alarmed by the multiple variants that have recently been discovered worldwide. The COVID-19 vaccine works for most new variants but this will change - as it often does - with time. The current variants of the COVID-19 virus ALL still have the spike protein, and this spike protein is the target of all the current vaccines. Therefore, we presume this vaccine will be effective for the majority of the virus variants that are presently emerging. This may change in the future and the vaccines will need to be modified when a resistant variant is found.

Dr. Sander Gothard shares an important update on common questions regarding the COVID-19 vaccine.
